'NOBORU' – the word itself has a strong and meaningful definition to its founders, Kyoshi Anthony Gentile & Sensei Ronni Gentile… a definition upon which they built a school… a definition to use as a principle in one's life: Noboru – To Climb, To Strive, To Rise and To Achieve. As evidenced on Noboru's distinctive logo and patch, one Climbs a mountain; one Strives for the best he/she can be; one seeks to Achieve the pinnacle of their goals – and, as with the beautiful Bamboo which grows, and is one of the strongest woods found, yet it bends in the wind and is flexible in its growth. So it is this profound truth with which Noboru's founders approach their Students and practitioners, teaching patience, practice and technique in the Martial Art of Noboru Jiu Jitsu.
Kyoshi Anthony Gentile has been a serious Student of Jiu Jitsu and Karate for over 20 years. Primarily training in the tradition of Daito-Ryu and Goshin-Budo Jiu Jitsu and traditional Japanese Karate. Kyoshi Gentile has synthesized these two dynamic arts into a coherent system of combat now known as NOBORU Jiu Jitsu.
Practice and application of the techniques of this art relies heavily on the projection of Ki, as well as proper execution and balance. Although a modern, combat-oriented Martial Art, Noboru Jiu Jitsu is well rooted in the ancient traditions of the Martial Arts as practiced by the Samurai of ancient Japan. Kyoshi Gentile has spent many dedicated years training with the best Martial Artists in the country, and has seen what is effective and what is not. In doing this, he has come to understand and realize that solid, well executed technique has no substitute or equal – and that Ki must be an integral part of Martial Arts training.
Beyond physical techniques, Kyoshi Gentile teaches that,
in order to be a complete Martial Artist, Students must integrate the intangible aspects of the art into their training. Students must adhere to a strict set of moral and ethical codes similar to the Bushido Code of Conduct. Kyoshi Gentile has formulated Noboru in such a way that the Students are not only provided an extremely effective system of combat, but also a moral and ethical framework that gives them faith in the truth which allows them to conduct themselves in the best tradition of the Martial Arts, and to guide them in the tradition of the word 'NOBORU' to Climb, to Strive, to Rise and to Achieve ~
